On this nose this wine has all the tropical notes of passionfruit, mango and lime mingled with bright lemon and ocean. The palate has a touch of brioche, or maybe pineapple upside down cake. It is broad but clean, with great minerality and elegance.

This wine was allowed to ferment barrel naturally, and malolactic fermentation was allowed to occur. This wine was aged in French oak, 12% of which was new for 15 months.

2018 Brosseau Chardonnay

$36.00

The greatest Chardonnays in the world tend to be grown in limestone. Limestone offers beneficial nutrients to grapes and it also retains moisture in dry weather, while offering good drainage. If you want to get really deep with it, Tablas Creek has a great piece about it on their blog.
At Brosseau, the old vines were planted in 1980, clocking them at 42 years old. (How old does that make me feel?)
They are own rooted Wente clone, which was a vine brought over in 1812 from Burgundy, and quickly became the choice for most California Chardonnay plantings.
Planted at 1600 feet, they enjoy hot days followed by cool nights, a desired diurnal shift for even ripening.

We're on a break!

Don’t worry. We are coming back better than ever in 2024!

While Ownroot Collective  will continue to focus on winemaker side-projects, we will now offer 4 shipments per year, shipped automatically.

You can still shop for wine any time, and we will still offer lots of content, connection, and virtual tastings with winemakers.

We hope you will join us for our newest adventure!
