This is so lovely. Earl grey, lemon pepper, bergamot, and all the big juicy berry tones that you get from cool climate Syrah. Add to that the backbone and structure of the Petite Sirah and you have my personal favorite of the reds.

This wine was fermented with 33% whole cluster and aged in 33% new French oak and 67% neutral French oak for 27 months.

67% Syrah, 33% Petite Sirah

2018 Ultima Tuile Syrah / Petite Sirah

$52.00

A blend of Syrah from the Jespersen Vineyard in Edna Valley, with Peite Sirah from the Kukkula and Shell Creek Vineyards.

Jespersen Vineyard is just 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean and is heavily influenced by its marine proximity. It has a dark clay topsoil and sandy subsoil resulting in well drained vigorous soils. Cool climate Syrah is generally more profound and delicate, and blending it with rich Paso Petite Sirah balances both wines gorgeously. The Kukkula and Shell Creek Vineyards are the source for the Petite Sirah. They are both farmed meticulously, and are highly regarded in their region.

Winemaking wise, using a combination of delestage and pistage, AKA Rack and Return and aggressive pump overs, the flavors are huge while the wine still maintains a soft and approachable structure.
