This is serious Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. A demanding and rich wine with deep black and red fruit, I get blackcurrant, blackberry and deep black cherry on the nose, with a little lift of sweet cedar. The palate is grippy with graphite and shows tight but velveteen tannins. This is a wine that is going to age like a boss.

These grapes were hand harvested, cluster sorted and destemmed. They enjoyed a 4 day cold soak and were inoculated on the 5th day in an open top tank. They were fermented for 16 days with a 2 day extended maceration. The free run and press fractions were kept separately with 60% new French oak for the free run and neutral French oak for the press. It was aged for 25 months in barrel and is vegan.

2019 Lunasa Cabernet Sauvignon

$85.00

Jordan grew up on a Golf Course in Eugene, Oregon and got into Viticulture after he worked a harvest at an Oregon winery. His family bought the 8 acre Poston Crest Vineyard in Calistoga, an estate founded by Dr. Marvin Poston, one of the first African American to graduate from UC Berkley school of Optometry, as well as the first African American to plant grapes in Napa. The family continues to sell their fruit to some pretty big name brands, and Jordan now peels some fruit off for himself as well.

The vineyard was planted in 2002 with clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon, thought of as the King within Cabernet. It is farmed sustainably.
