This wine is a delight and a pleasure, punching way above its weight class. Showing secondary and tertiary notes along with primary, this wine is a solid showing of right proper Grenache. It opens with a touch of jolly rancher that hits high, followed by a juiciness of fresh strawberries and meaty sliced salami. This wine is like an earthy hippy chick who is also smokin’ hot. The grapes for this wine were hand picked, co-fermented with a tiny amount of Syrah, 20% whole cluster, and partial carbonic fermentation. The wine was gently pressed
after native fermentation and aged in neutral french oak for 8 months without racking. No fining or filtering, so vegan.

2020 Doctor’s Orders Grenache

“The Grenache vineyard, we’re not allowed to talk about publicly. I will say it is the oldest planting of Grenache in Southern California, and one of the oldest in the state. I have a good relationship with a lot of farmers in Santa Barbara County. When I started the Doctor’s Orders project, I told them I wanted to get organically grown grapes, and I wanted a good price. They said, well, we like working with you. If we have extra stuff at the end of the year and we’ve grown it well, you take it at a discounted rate. So I got a call in the middle of harvest saying that they had an extra few tons of this block. They said, if you pay to pick it, it’s yours, but you can’t tell anyone because people are spending like $6,000 a ton on it. So I did that and we got it for cents on the dollar, which is why we’re able to charge what we’re charging for it. It’s quite high end, it’s grown really well and they just had a surplus. I love working with them, and it is a really cool site and a really cool opportunity that we had.”
