This wine is so pretty! The nose is bursting with bright apricot, wildflowers and orange sherbet. There are notes of lemon curd, canned peaches, candied Myer lemon, delicious cantaloupe melon, opal apples. At our tasting we just kept going on and on with this; there are so many lovely and intriguing notes to this wine. The palate is ripe with apple and pear, with a line of minerality and earth. There is a generous mouthfeel and a long finish. I am betting this will age well, if anyone can wait.
This wine was fermented natively in stainless steel, neutral French oak and new French oak and then aged on the lees in stainless steel and neutral French oak for 9 months.

2020 Filomena Vermentino, Unti Vineyard

Unti is a relatively well known small Sonoma brand, and in wine world is a highly respected farming operation and winemaking production. They are known for taking great care of their property, farming organically, and championing Italian and Spanish varieties. If you have never visited their property before, I would encourage you to check out their unassuming tasting room and pick up some of their killer wines.
When Luke told me that they advertised their two tons of Vermentino in Wine Business I could not believe it. People clamor to get into this vineyard. The luck of cruising around with George Unti and being led to 4 little rows by their house is so special I can hardly stand it.
Luke’s experimentation with the Vermentino in this vintage is all about vessels. His first vintage (this one, 2020), he used a stainless steel barrel, a neutral barrel, and a new French oak barrel. They had three very different experiences, which have been blended to make a very unique and balanced wine.
