At our tasting, one of my notes is: We like this wine so much we are not even saying tasting notes, everyone just keeps saying, “Wow I love this wine so much.”

We love this wine so much.

It leads with lime, saltine cracker,  and grapefruit. The palate is broad from the lees stirring and carries notes of peaches and citrus segments and reminds me of a fancy salad I had at Solage a few months ago.

If I paid $60 for this at that fancy restaurant I would be super happy about it and surprised it didn’t cost more.

This wine was fermented with native yeasts in 500 liter neutral French oak puncheon and left on the lees with regimented stirring until June of 2021. Malolactic fermentation was was inhibited.

2020 Orixe Sotelo Albor

$35.00

This is the wine that I’m most proud of so. Arbor means first light in Galician. And the light first appears in California through the Sierra foothills, which is where the vineyard is. Angels camp is in Calaveras County.

We could have bottled the Albarino and Godello separately but to make our lives easier and because we liked them together we went with the blend. It’s 60% Albarino and 40% Godello.

We were a little bit worried about the blend, wondering if that too many different weird varieties. We wondered if we should not even put the varieties on there and just call it a white wine blend. But in the end we thought we would just call it what it is and tell people all about it.”

We're on a break!

Don’t worry. We are coming back better than ever in 2024!

While Ownroot Collective  will continue to focus on winemaker side-projects, we will now offer 4 shipments per year, shipped automatically.

You can still shop for wine any time, and we will still offer lots of content, connection, and virtual tastings with winemakers.

We hope you will join us for our newest adventure!
