Savory and somewhat salty, and also fresh like the air after rain. A nose of underripe apricot and peach with a touch of white flowers or maybe those wild green flowers from the side of the road. It’s like a prairie in the Midwest with native flora and fauna. All this awesome acid makes me wish I had lobster with garlic butter all over it.

This wine was whole cluster pressed and allowed to ferment naturally in neutral French oak and aged 3.5 months on the less with light stirring. Bottled unfiltered. 50 cases produced.

2021 Gondak Cellars Arneis

$25.00

The Arneis is from Potter Valley, Mendocino County. Out of all my wines, it is definitely the freshest and most laser focused. Arneis is typically fresh and springy, or savory and barrel aged for a lot longer. I go for fresh and springy. I did a little bit of lees stirring, just a tiny bit to round out the mouth a little. Very like under ripe peach, a little lemon. Definitely something that you would want to have with scallops that are doused in butter.

This is from Graziano vineyard, which is essentially the beginning of the Russian River watershed. We make wine for another brand from this fruit, so I piggyback on their contract. Their style is definitely different, but also nice fresh wine. I just got this into Mama Oakland.”
