This wine is bursting with personality. Layers of fruit from raspberry to blackberry and even raisin. There are cherry blossoms and paprika. Cocoa and mulled cider flavors make this a good winter wine, while the acid and bright flowers offer a promise of spring.

Winemaking wise, this wine gets treated delicately, more like a Pinot Noir. It is gently pressed after destemming and short cold soak. This wine fermented naturally and is aged in 40% new French and American oak for 18-20 months. Unfined.

2016 Merisi Grenache

$45.00

The fruit for this comes from the Cejas, one of California’s favorite farming and winemaking families. They farm their Sonoma Valley vineyard organically, and sell to loads of band names you are familiar with. Their name is synonymous around here with good farming. They mainly grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the Grenache is a tiny bit of their vineyard that I hope they never decide to rip out.

Grenache grown in this part of Sonoma means cooler temps and more marine influence which allows for longer hang time and more delicate sugars which lead to more delicate notes in the wine while keeping the acid in tact.

We're on a break!

Don’t worry. We are coming back better than ever in 2024!

While Ownroot Collective  will continue to focus on winemaker side-projects, we will now offer 4 shipments per year, shipped automatically.

You can still shop for wine any time, and we will still offer lots of content, connection, and virtual tastings with winemakers.

We hope you will join us for our newest adventure!
