This elegant Pinot opens with an earthy nose of black tea, cherry, shiitake, and rose petal. The mouthfeel is savory, brambley and energetic. This wine is so pretty now, and will benefit from some age. The finish is all spice and flowers.

This wine was allowed to ferment with native yeasts and aged on the lees for 12 months in neutral Burgundy barrels.

123 cases produced.

2018 Complant Pinot Noir, Soberanes Vineyard, Stanta Lucia Highlands

$60.00

The Soberanes Vineyard is a partnership of two famous farming families of Monterey County – the Pisonis and the Franscionis. They are the families responsible for the famed Rosella’s, Pisoni and Gary’s Vineyards. These iconic families grow some of the most acclaimed and sought after fruit in California. The soil is granite laden, and the fog is thick- a perfect combination for Pinot, Chard and cool climate Syrah.

Dan: What I love about Santa Lucia Highlands is that kind of crazy combination of arid and cool. I don’t know another vineyard area in the world that has that. You get this concentration of earthiness, but you also get the fresh fruit character from the skin ripeness.

On the label is a peach blossom, a watercolor commissioned for the Baron’s by Sam’s friend and tattoo artist.
