We first tasted this wine in February of 2022, and in our notes it said, “Wait until 2023.” So we did, and it was worth it. This wine is so pretty.  Textbook what Merlot should and can be when it is made right. Opening with loads of red fruit, cherries, plums, blackberry, chocolate, vanilla, and black currant and violets. I could go on. The palate is blueberries and dried herbs, with stunningly integrated tannins and a long finish. Really a stunner.

This wines was full de-stemmed and aged for 30 months in French oak, 50% new. The final blend was 80% Merlot, 16% Cab Sauv, 4% Syrah.  This wine was unfiltered and fined with bentonite, so vegan. 47 cases produced.

2018 Moran Manor Merlot

$45.00

From the Merlot I really like the juiciness like the obvious rich fruit  without it being thick. You get a lot of richness and robustness without the wine having that tar sort of thickness. We can still get something that’s medium bodied. The Merlot is the star of the property in my mind.”
