Violets, strawberries, baking spices, cranberries, raspberries, and oolong tea- this wine is elegant and graceful. A total classic. At our tasting someone said it might be their favorite American Pinot Noir. It is California in style, at it’s very very best.

Clones 667 and 115 picked, destemmed, and fermented separately in open top fermenters on the skins for 14 days. Aged in 40% new, 40% neutral and 20% once used barrels for 21 months. Bottled fined and unfiltered.

2018 Runway Piro Pinot Noir

$44.00

Runway Vineyard was planted in 2008 by California’s former Lt. Governor Abel Maldonado Jr. and his daughter Erika Maldonado Sarabia. They planted 16 acres of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris on their 1000 acre property. The soil is limestone with clay on top. The fruit gets voluptuousness from the clay and the limestone provides structure.

Marc says it used to be farmed pretty commercially with calendared sprays and then Abel, who owns a big farming company, said hey I can do this. So Marc would see him out on the tractor himself taking good care of his vines. The property is now farmed by renowned viticulturist Jeff Newton, who intentionally keeps yields low to promote depth and flavor intensity.

Well hello there.
