This smells like the dawn. It feels like walking in dewy grass. It is elegant, light, pretty, like a light rain. There is mushroom, strawberry and mint tea.

The palate has toasted coriander, bay leaf, a little sage, cinnamon, balsam, and cedar.

Super structured and very feminine.

This wine was fermented natively with 25% whole cluster in a stainless steel tank. It was aged in 25% new French oak for 16 months.

42 cases produced.

2019 Quigley Alder Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir

$42.00

Stuart tasted my ‘18 Santa Cruz Pinot Noir from barrel and reached out and said, “Hey, we technically don’t have any Pinot available. But if I can make some available to you, do you want it?” So that’s what that’s what this vintage of Pinot Noir is. This is from the highest point in the vineyard, 2700 feet. It’s Swan and  Calera, 50/50. Stuart wants people to pick earlier, because he thinks picking early in California is still not that early. Sunshine is so abundant here, even in a cool climate place like Mendocino. Things like Syrah and Pinot in particular, they can over-ripen on you pretty darn quickly. Stuart wants winemakers to pick earlier, when the fruits ready- maybe not necessarily when dogma says things should be ready. So that’s how we got connected on the Pinot Noir. I was pestering them about Syrah long before that.

We're on a break!

Don’t worry. We are coming back better than ever in 2024!

While Ownroot Collective  will continue to focus on winemaker side-projects, we will now offer 4 shipments per year, shipped automatically.

You can still shop for wine any time, and we will still offer lots of content, connection, and virtual tastings with winemakers.

We hope you will join us for our newest adventure!
