Juicy juicy juicy!

This wine was picked for freshness – so the acid is just plush and, well, did I mention juicy?

The main tasting note is honey, wildflower honey and raspberry juice. This wine is fragrant and herby and spicy. Patrick is right, a true 120 year old field blend is one of the coolest things out there.

This wine was fully de-stemmed and fermented in tank, native yeasts, and aged in 20% new French oak for 16 months.

54 cases produced.

2019 Quigley Old Stake 1901 Vineyard Old Vine Field Blend

$42.00

This vineyard is up on the Kelsey Bench in Lake County. So as the name would indicate, planted in 1901 and this vineyard is actually owned by the owner of Dancing Crow. They’re the winemakers, Katherine and David Asante for Dancing Crow are close with Sean, the winemaker at Amulet. They were very keen to work with us because Dancing Crow is a larger brand. And this vineyard is not tiny. It’s sustainably farmed. The first thing that fascinated me about California was the old vines and I didn’t know where I would find one, so I was on board immediately. This is mainly Zinfandel and Petit Sirah, but it’s got 16 plus other varieties in it. It’s got Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Alicante Bouschet.

There’s vines out there that look like trees.

It’s just so interesting to see what people were drinking back then. There are vineyards that are planted in this style that are older than this. In California this is our winemaking heritage. I mean, our oldest vineyards are field blends like this.

We're on a break!
