This is a big boy, if you are Syrah lover think Crozes-Hermitage / Northern Rhone through and through. It is deep, dark and broody with a nose of brown sugar, blackberry and spices. A romantic wine with a healthy kiss of oak that feels complimentary rather than dominant. A steal at $35, we all agreed we would happily pay double.

This wine was fermented in stainless tanks, fermented naturally with 25% whole cluster, left on the skins for 30 days to extract all that color and tannin, pressed into once used French oak barrels and aged 16 months.

90 cases produced.

2019 Tectonic Syrah

$35.00

Samantha and Tim are soil nerds. Both geology majors, they met in New Zealand and returned to Napa to further their opportunities in the wine world. They decided to make Syrah because collectively they made a lot of Syrah in New Zealand and fell deeply in love with the variety. When they started looking for fruit they knew they wanted to do something they both wanted to drink. Their goal was to marry a European style with the terroir or California. They are making a Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley next, and the vein is the same. These wines are heady and bold.

The Brookshire Vineyard is located on a hillside just over the border from Calistoga.  The main soil type found in the Syrah block is called the Los Robles series. The Los Robles soil series consists of very deep and deep well drained soils formed in material weathered from basalt and andesitic rocks.

Well hello there.
