Old school Grenache can only be made by someone who really gets wine, and this guy gets wine. There is great minerality to this wine, with big juicy notes of cherries and pomegranate. Light on its feet but with enough structure to suggest age worthiness, this wine is made by someone who clearly loved it.
Also these grapes are 90+ year old, head trained vines tended by a father and son, which is also very cool.
This wine was fermented with 50% native yeasts, 50% innoculated in stainless steel, with 25% whole cluster. It was on the skins for 11 days, and then racked into neutral French oak barrels and aged for 17 months.
