Old school Grenache can only be made by someone who really gets wine, and this guy gets wine. There is great minerality to this wine, with big juicy notes of cherries and pomegranate. Light on its feet but with enough structure to suggest age worthiness, this wine is made by someone who clearly loved it.

Also these grapes are 90+ year old, head trained vines tended by a father and son, which is also very cool.

This wine was fermented with 50% native yeasts, 50% innoculated in stainless steel, with 25% whole cluster. It was on the skins for 11 days, and then racked into neutral French oak barrels and aged for 17 months.

2019 Temenos Grenache

Dominic belongs in a Parisian cafe, chain smoking Gauloises and rubbing elbows with Picasso and Hemingway. Due to his age, he will have to settle for Burning Man and a vape pen. Dom is darling, raised in Sebastopol and starting his harvest career straight out of highshchool, he worked with some pretty heavy hitters along the way – including Lioco, Copain and Kistler. Given the chance, I think Dom would be a true vigneron, farming his land and producing wine fully from his own efforts.

Temenos is a name given to him by his sister, who studied ancient Greek in college. It means sacred space, like a grove of Redwoods, or a fence around a church. In this case it implies the bottle. Dominic hopes that by enjoying the fruits of his labor, he is creating a sacred space for people to enjoy the wine with friends, food and great conversation. See, Parisian cafe vibes, right?
