Give this wine a minute (or 30) to open up and you will be rewarded with delightfulness. It smells inky out of the gate, showing its high fruit tones. Then it opens to fresh berries and joy. There is blueberry, diatomaceous earth, and spices, throwing old world vibes all over the place. This wine is so cool, and so rewarding.

The grapes were destemmed, fermented with native yeasts and aged in neutral oak for 16 months. Unfined, unfiltered, vegan.

2021 Perlegos Nero d’Avola

Nero d’Avola, Sicily’s beloved grape, boasts a history as sun-drenched as its flavors. With roots tracing back to the sun-soaked hills of southern Italy, it has flourished on the island of Sicily for centuries. Known as the “Black Grape of Avola,” this varietal produces wines that are as robust and bold as its past. Sipping on Nero d’Avola is like taking a journey through Sicilian history. You’ll encounter rich, dark fruit flavors like black cherry and plum, with a touch of smoky and earthy notes. It’s a bit like savoring a taste of Sicily’s Mediterranean sunshine, framed by the island’s volcanic soils. Nero d’Avola is the embodiment of Sicilian passion and warmth in a bottle. 🍇🍷🌞
