Named for Katrina’s Chenin Blanc mentor, a winemaker in South Africa. This wine shows apple pie filling, pear tart, lemongrass and chamomile. It is round and lush, with a wild and natural finish. A mature version of natural Chenin.
These grapes were whole cluster pressed on the gentle cycle, fermented with native yeasts and aged for 10 months in neutral French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered, vegan.

“Mara is from Clarksburg, from Reamer Vineyard. I said I would never buy fruit from Clarksburg because I never had one that I loved. It felt too easy. I wanted to do something different. But this vineyard was planted in the 70s. It has big tree-like gnarly vines. I gave it a chance and it came out really good. I think the richness is from the clay in the soil. It gives a different weight to the wine, it’s got this buttery popcorn thing going on. It has a totally different texture. It’s not like I thought the sun would destroy the acidity, in South Africa it survives so of course Clarksburg is actually a good place for it. I was glad to be proven wrong.”
